Venom Let There Be Carnage scores pandemic.

Sony Pictures’ Marvel sequel “Venom: Let There Be Carnage” blew away expectations. Debut with $90.1 million in ticket sales, making it easy. The best opening of the pandemic, according to studio estimates Sunday.

“Venom: Let There Be Carnage” is forecast to open with half that total. But the film, which is playing exclusively in theaters, exceeded even the debut of the 2018 original. “Venom,” the “Spider-Man” offshoot that introduced Tom Hardy’s parasitic alien symbiote, launched with $80.3 million. Only 2019′s “Joker” ($96.2 million) has ever opened bigger in October.

Both “Let There Be Carnage” and MGM’s “No Time to Die” originally  set to open last year. Believing the best box-office return would happen with an exclusive release in theaters. Both studios (neither of which has a major streaming platform) held out for better moviegoing conditions.

“No Time to Die,” which opens in North America on Friday, launched with $119.1 million in 54 overseas markets. The pace, according to MGM and Universal Pictures was roughly in line with the opening for “Skyfall.” Following its London premiere last week, “No Time to Die” — the 25th Bond film and Daniel Craig’s last outing as the super spy — grossed $25.6 million in the United Kingdom and Ireland. Its $11.4 million on Saturday there was the best box office day for any Bond film on its home turf.

“Films can only become cultural when people see them together on the biggest, best screens and have that experience as a group,” said Josh Greenstein, president of Sony Motion Pictures Group. “You can’t replicate that by yourself at home.”

Jungle Cruise Reviews: Dwayne Johnson-starrer is an old-fashioned, fun family entertainer

Disney’s Jungle Cruise, inspired by the theme park ride of the same name, takes a typically family-friendly approach. It is a fantasy adventure story involving conquistadors, adventurers, ancient curses, and flowers with magical healing abilities.

Johnson does the job as a typical knave-at-first-glance-but-good-at-heart protagonist that populates such stories. But the real star has to be Blunt. The character is written well, and she brings a lot of heart and humor to the role. To the writers’ credit, they give Lily a lot to do, which is not always the case with female characters in similar movies.

Even Keira Knightley’s Elizabeth Swann, who was considered a radical departure then for a female protagonist in a movie set in the early 18th century, does not appear all that much progressive in hindsight when compared to Lily.

Whitehall, who became famous after leading the cast of the British sitcom Fresh Meat, is predictably great here. The villain Prince Joachim, played by Jesse Plemons, is cartoonish, but in an entertaining way. This all works because Jungle Cruise does not take itself too seriously.

That’s it. Jungle Cruise is by no means a perfect movie. It has a few flaws that stop me from giving a wholehearted recommendation. But it is a fun, campy movie you can enjoy with the family and a diverting throwback to the 80s and 90s adventure films.

Actor Michael K Williams, who played the shotgun-toting drug dealer Omar Little in the HBO crime drama The Wire. He died of an overdose of drugs, the New York City medical examiner’s office said on Friday.

“Acute intoxication by the combined effects of fentanyl, p-fluorofentanyl, heroin, and cocaine,”.  This is the cause of death determine by the medical examiner. She declined any further comment on the investigation.

Williams’ colleagues remembered his special talent for humanizing the characters. He portrayed bringing to his roles his own experience as a Black man growing up in New York.

Among the real-life struggles he tapped were bouts with drug addiction. He brought to his best-known role for The Wire. The TV series was set in Baltimore and told the story of the narcotics trade from the perspective of criminals, police, and the people caught between them. Critics praised Williams for his portrayal of Little, a homosexual drug dealer at war with his rivals.

Williams played the powerful African-American gangster Chalky White in Boardwalk Empire, an HBO series set in Atlantic City, New Jersey during the Prohibition era of the 1920s.

During his career, Williams earned Emmy nominations for performances in HBO’s Bessie, The Night Of, and Lovecraft Country. He also won praise for his role in the 2019 Netflix series. When They See Us, the true story of five teenagers falsely accused of a brutal attack on a female jogger in New York’s Central Park, who was eventually exonerated after spending years in prison.

Oscar Isaac to join Metal Gear Solid film.

It’s a good time to be Oscar Isaac these days. The actor had some rough years recently but seems things are going well for him since “At Eternity’s Gate”.

He has new films upcoming by James Gray and Paul Schrader, he’s set to play Francis Ford Coppola in a series about the making of “The Godfather”, he’s next to be seen in “Dune”, part of “Star Wars” and also filming “Scenes from Marriage”, HBO new version of Ingmar Bergman’s acclaimed movie.

Now the actor has a new task: he’s going to star in the film adaptation of “Metal Gear Solid” by director Jordan Vogt-Roberts. “Metal Gear Solid” is a series of action-adventure stealth video games created by Hideo Kojima and developed and published by Konami. The first game, Metal Gear, was released in 1987.

The player often takes control of a special forces operative (usually Solid Snake or Big Boss, which will be portrayed by Isaac in the movies), who is assigned the task of finding the titular superweapon “Metal Gear”, a bipedal walking tank with the ability to launch nuclear weapons.

The lead character is somewhat inspired by Snake Plissken, the lead hero of John Carpenter’s classic “Escape from New York”. Video game movies are usually not that strong but Filmiere.com is obviously for more and more good films and wishing this movie to turn out well.
