It’s long been anticipated. David Fincher goes back to biopics after “Zodiac” and “The Social Network”. Gary Oldman, Amanda Seyfried, and Lily Collins star, the theme is how “Citizen Kane” was born with the perspective put on its co-writer.

Written by Fincher’s father, re-written by Eric Roth, it’s supposed to look gorgeous and Aaron Sorkin raves it. Everything is here to make movie fans excited. Now it’s been confirmed that Netflix plans the release date on 4 December, Filmiere.com reports.

But before that, it’ll premiere on several selected theatres as it’s almost a typical thing with Netflix’s awards season films. The runtime is expected to be 2 hours and 11 minutes.  The teaser is also out where it shows some very gorgeous-looking images, a bit similar to the “Citizen Kane” style.

Hopefully, the full trailer is soon. We’ll keep you updated as soon as the trailer will arrive.

The Witches goes to HBO MAX

(Courtesy: Warner Bros.)

Robert Zemeckis-directed, Guillermo del Toro-written, and Alfonso Cuaron-produced “The Witches” goes to HBO Max, an unexpected move from Warner Bros. It’s promoted as a “Halloween surprise” for the fans of the novel which was adapted into a much critically acclaimed movie in 1990 by Nicholas Roeg, starring Anjelica Huston.

However some fans are wondering if it’s because the quality of the movie is cheap, so they didn’t have much faith in the material, to begin with. While theatre experience won’t be here for fans, at least they’ll manage to enjoy the film this year.

The trailer is out and the movie stars a lot of big names including Anne Hathaway, Octavia Spencer, and Stanley Tucci.

New music video out for “No Time to Die”

(Courtesy: Matty Vogel/Billboard.com)

Billie Eilish wrote and performed a song for the new James Bond film “No Time to Die” early this year and it got mostly positive reception with some calling it as the possible frontrunner for Best Original Song Oscar next year.

The video released for the song was only lyrics on display, similar to some other recent Bond tracks. But since the movie has postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, the studio probably wanted to bring the song to attention again and of course, promote the film through it.

So we got a mostly black-and-white music video where Eilish elegantly performs the song with some footage from the upcoming film. Eilish herself is the youngest person to write and perform a Bond song.  However a day after the release of the video, the movie re-scheduled again.

The film, starring Daniel Craig in his final stint as the agent formerly known as 007, is expected to hit theaters April 2, 2021, a year later than initially planned.

Back in March, “No Time to Die” was the first major tentpole to shift its release date before the global health crisis caused by coronavirus could even be classified as a pandemic. After its first delay, the movie was set to premiere in the U.K. on Nov. 12 and in North America on Nov. 20.

“The Gentlemen” gets a TV treatment from Guy Ritchie himself.

(Photograph credit: STX Entertainment)

Guy Ritchie’s ‘The Gentlemen’ remains as one of the team’s highest-grossing films of the year. Even though it’s not much of an achievement given current conditions, the movie is seemingly very beloved based on internet ratings.

Critics hadn’t been too kind to Ritchie but they also admit that it’s one of his better efforts with much praise given to performances of Hugh Grant and Colin Farrell. The project started as a TV series before turning into a movie and now Ritchie decided to make a TV series out of the movie.

He’ll direct, write, and produce the miniseries. It’s unknown if any of the original members will be back to Miramax TV production. Miramax Television is thrilled to break new creative ground in our partnership with Guy Ritchie on The Gentlemen,” said Marc Helwig, head of the company.

“One of the most distinctive and prolific filmmakers working today and someone whose creativity I have admired for many years, we couldn’t be more excited to bring the cinematic journey of The Gentlemen forth into the realm of global premium television.”

More exciting news for the fans will be brought by Filmiere.com. The original film also starred Matthew McConaughey, Charlie Hunnam, Jeremy Strong, Michelle Dockey, and Henry Golding alongside already mentioned Grant and Farrell.

Trailers of the week: “Borat 2”, “Minari”

(Photograph credit: 20th Century Fox)

Filmiere.com reports that several new trailers for movies are out this week. Just days ago it became known to the public that Sacha Baron Cohen has made a sequel to Borat and now the trailer is also with the fans. The movie itself is expected to arrive before Election Day.

This time, as obvious, from the trailer “Borat” will be much more political and the story involves Trump and Epstein’s relationship, as well as the coronavirus, as well as cameos from Mike Pence, Rudy Giuliani, and more best left unspoiled, Another trailer, came out this week is A24 film called “Minari”, starring Steven Yeun which was premiered at Sundance Film Festival earlier this year and received very strong reviews.

According to the official synopsis: “Minari follows a Korean-American family that moves to a tiny Arkansas farm in search of their own American Dream. The family home changes completely with the arrival of their sly, foul-mouthed, but incredibly loving grandmother.”

The trailer got more than one million views on Twitter in a short time, so obviously it’s gonna make some noise at least among the internet crowd.

Mike Leigh’s next film only starts filming next year:

(Photograph credit: Steve Bisgrove/Shutterstock/Deadline)

British auteur director Mike Leigh is loved for his films, for his naturalistic dialogue but he’s also known for his versatility. Those who wanted to see his new movie will have to wait a little longer, Filmiere.com reports.

According to the recent report of Variety, TMS will co-produce a still-untitled movie from “Mr. Turner” and “Secret and Lies” director, produced by Gail Egan at the U.K.’s Potboilers Productions, which is now set to go into production in the U.K. between January and April 2021.

His recent film is considered to be a disappointment by some. We won’t be able to give you much new info about the film yet, because there’s not too much knows about it but hopefully, his new movie will be a back to form.

“The Godfather” making-of movie is coming with Oscar Isaac and Jake Gyllenhaal

(Photograph credit: AP news)

“Francis and The Godfather” is coming, a new movie directed by Barry Levinson on the making of Godfather with two stars already attached to the project: Oscar Isaac to play legendary director himself Francis Ford Coppola, while Jake Gyllenhaal will play iconic producer Robert Evans.

Coppola himself gave his blessings by saying that he’s happy with whatever Levinson makes, Filmiere.com reports. It follows an announcement that Paramount+ (formerly CBS All Access) is moving ahead with an original drama series about the making of “The Godfather” titled “The Offer.”

With the recent announcement of Ben Affleck’s plan to make a film about the making of “Chinatown”, it seems exploring how “New Hollywood” is made is the new trend. Stars are obviously exciting even if Levinson’s recent track is inconsistent.

The film is officially titled “Francis and The Godfather” and is based on a script by Andrew Farotte that made The Black List. Per Deadline, Echo Lake Entertainment’s Mike Marcus, Doug Mankoff, and Andrew Spaulding are producing with Kevin Turen, Jon Levin, and Baltimore Pictures’ Jason Sosnoff.

Zendaya is Ronnie Spector

(Photograph credit: Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic)

Zendaya is everywhere; she was a successful Disney star with musical abilities, then she went to blockbusters like “Spider-Man”, now works with auteurs like Denis Villeneuve on the upcoming “Dune”, made Emmy history with her “Euphoria” performance win, and has a strong social media following.

She doesn’t want to stop; now the reports claim she’s going to play Ronnie Spector for a new A24 biopic, Filmiere.com can confirm. A few years ago in David Mamet’s “Phil Spector”, she was a supporting character but now we’ll get a full portrayal of her early years, her rise to musical stardom,  her marriage, and divorce.

Just like Aretha Franklin personally endorsed Jennifer Hudson to play her in the upcoming MGM biopic “Respect”, Spector chose Zendaya as the actress she wished to portray her in her early years. A24 is a studio that usually brings high-quality stuff. So it’ll probably worth the wait.

Surprising name to direct “Lion King” sequel

(Photograph credit: Walt Disney Pictures)

Filmiere.com lets you know that the “Lion King” live-action sequel (which is also a prequel if the rumors are true. Similar to “Godfather II”) is in development and it has a surprising name to direct it.

The film was a major box office success but gained rather mixed critical reception, with some dismissing it as an almost shot-by-shot remake with no life and energy of the original film.

Some minor changes were criticized instead of appreciated; such as the “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” scene-setting in a light atmosphere rather than in the night. The author of the song Elton John (who wrote a song for that film as well) was also not happy with the film.

But now the sequel is coming and this time director is a very surprising name; arthouse favorite, who directed Oscar-winning films “Moonlight” and “if Beale Street Could Talk” Barry Jenkins will handle the material. “Helping my sister raise two young boys during the ’90s, I grew up with these characters,” Jenkins said.

“Having the opportunity to work with Disney on expanding this magnificent tale of friendship, love, and legacy while furthering my work chronicling the lives and souls of folk within the African diaspora is a dream come true.” If any of the cast members will be back or not is unknown yet.

Avatar sequels are almost done filming

(photograph credit: 20th Century Fox)

“Avatar” sequels keep getting delayed. It raises questions around if they’ll be successful at this point because long time spans between a sequel and original are never too good, even if it’s a cult film. Sure, “Avatar” is not a cult film or anything.

It was a major blockbuster that became the highest-grossing film of all time until last year but it’s not necessarily something that has a major fan base. That said, it’s still James Cameron and the movie is still beloved by many and is pretty fresh on many people’s minds.

‘Avatar 2’ Filming Is 100% Complete, ‘Avatar 3’ 95% Finished says James Cameron, Filmiere.com can confirm. Cameron explained that the production lost “about four and a half months” owing to COVID-19, which “hit us like it hit everybody, it hit us hard.”

Avatar 2’s release, as previously announced, “rolled around a full year” because of the pandemic lockdowns, Cameron added. In July, Disney moved all the Avatar sequels, setting Avatar 2 on December 16, 2022, and Avatar 3 on December 20, 2024.

The fourth and fifth pictures are due in 2026 and 2028. The longer interview can be seen on his “Terminator” and “True Lies’ star Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Youtube account. Nice to know that majority of the work has been done for sure.
